The OTHER ROCK SHOW is presented by Marina O - The Other Rock Show is about exploring 'other' time signatures within structures of rock and filtering out the conventions of the 4/4 time easy option in favour of something a little more challenging. 

Meanwhile on the ORGAN THING Sean O will be bringing you an eclectic mix of diverse left-field things from all points in between and beyond - the best new releases and demos that are circulating around the underground fanzine channels and landing here in the Organ office, along with news of forthcoming events and general alternative music news and goings on in and around London.  Expect an hour of challenging alternative music each week, the kind you don’t often get on ‘normal’ music radio shows and stations, expect special guests, expect who knows what...

2: KREIDLER – New Earth (Bureau B) – There’s a new rather clean cut album out from ever interesting German electronic post-rock outfit Kreidler this coming Monday April 4th. They’re sounding as refreshing as ever – www.ikreidler.de or www.bureau-b.com

3: SUICIDE – Creature Feature (Year Zero) – A classic bit of proto electro punk 70’s style. DJ and music journalist Kris Needs has put together a second volume follow up to his double CD of last year. This second compilation is called DIRTY WATER 2: MORE BIRTH OF PUNK ATTITUDE. This second 39 track volume is out on April 18th, once again loaded with pre ’76 bits of treasure, bits of new York garage, Jamaican dub, US protest folk, London glam… Bowie, Patti Smith, The Godz, Woody Guthrie, Faust, Jayne County, Kilburn And The Highroads, Stack Waddy and loads loads more… If you know all these bands then this is an excellent compilation, if you don’t then this is an essential enjoyable history lesson and a glorious voyage of discovery… I kind of envy those who will be hearing all this illuminating stuff for the first time. 4: KLAUS KINSKI – Don’t Get Caught Wanking At The Witch Trials (Ankst) - The Welsh band have their new album out on April 18th, The impressively insane piece of very considered beauty goes by the name of Skelington Horse. All kind of post punk things going on here, bit of Birthday Party, Creaming Jesus and who knows what – “guilt-ridden no-wave post-punk flamingo with massive delusions of grandeur..” so they say, best new album so far this year -  www.ankst.co.uk / www.myspace.com/klausruddykinski

5: GABLÉ – Too Fat To Fart To Fight (Loaf) – The rather unique French “art-pop” outfit known as Gablé have a new album due out next week. The album is called Cure Horse Cut, and features more of their refreshing left-field pop experiments and “flute touring punks playing destructive folk songs at an electro banquet”. 6: PATTI SMITH – Piss Factory (Year Zero) – See track three, classic piece of Patti Smith attitude from the pre-punk 70’s. To catch up with what she’s doing now, head to www.pattismith.net

7: ROYAL BANGS – Fireball (Glassnote) – track from the forthcoming Knoxville, Tennessee band’s album Flux Outside. The band’s third album has a bit of a US alt.indie Animal Collective feel to it, this particular track tastes a little of Battles, well those are the details we hear, haven’t had enough time to really explore the album yet, it comes out in the UK on May16th, out in other places right now - www.royalbangs.com  

8: SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM – Hymn To The Morning Star (The End) – Sad news, one of the finest bands out there are soon to be no more, the mighty Sleepytime Gorrilla Museum are coming to an end. The U.S band have announced they will play their last ever gigs next week, the gigs are in California and it seems people are travelling from all over the world to be there (can anyone buy us an air ticket please?). One of our biggest regrets is that we’ve never ever managed to get them over to the UK to play. The band have issued lyric sheets and notation so that people can sing along to another track, Bring Back The Apocalypse, at the final shows, once again that unknowing parallel with our very own Cardiacs, almost spooky how they’ve co-existed without ever really crossing paths. 9: CARDIACS – Hymn (Org) – Only possible way to follow Sleepytime’s hymn really. Sleepytime are the nearest thing to a Cardiacs family of bands the USA has. This version was from a much treasured bootleg recording made by person unknown on a hand held cassette recorder at the Stonehenge Festival at the Summer Solstice of 1984. it was released as a semi secret bonus track at the end of the Sea Nymphs' Appealing to Venus EP that came out as an ORG single as part of the Org-An-Ised Single Series back in 1998. The normally Cardiacs-hostile mainstream media didn’t really know who Sea Nymphs were back then, BBC Radio One made it a daytime single of the week, John Peel loved it, called up and insisted they record a session, we had fine adventures holding these things in our hands that year..  The EP is long since deleted. 10: MR & MRS SMITH AND MR DRAKE – Summer Is A-Coming In (Alphabet) – And talking of summer solstice things, the hint of summer is in the air, the clocks have gone forward, it was still light when new left the Organ bunker for the Resonance studio tonight and the excuse, if we really need one, for playing this 1984 recording from an album from the band who eventually were known as Sea Nymphs and who at the time were half of Cardiacs. The excuse is the Wicker Man. There’s a version of this song performed in the classic 1973 film, the song is one of the oldest known English songs, and this week there’s a rare chance to see The Wicker Man on a big screen here in London on Friday April 8th at the Docklands Cinema Club, Museum In Docklands, No.1 Warehouse, West India Quay London, E14 - www.museumoflondon.org.uk/docklands/

13: DEATH GRIPS – Full Moon (download) – So what is Hella’s Zach Hill doing now? Groundbreaking avant hip-hop noise, that, as you’d expect from mr Hill, is percussion heavy and extremely hard-boiled. Death Grips have arrived almost unannounced, low key leaking of YouTube visuals and downloadable tracks.  “Recorded over a stretch of five months, Death Grips may or may not be an avant hip hop project involving Zach Hill and some Sacramento homies. Save for a music video featuring the angriest black man alive with some gnarly neck veins, the identities behind Death Grips are purposely obscured”  - so says Imposed magazine via Facebook. 14: HOLLY GOLIGHTLY AND THE BROKEOFFS – Lord Knows We’re Drinking (Transdreamer) – Righteous bit of country style bottle in hand preaching back at the Sunday morning preachers, and a track of the forthcoming forth full length album from Holly and the Brokeoffs, and remarkably the latest of nearly thirty albums that the indie icon has been involved in. More of her raw DIY beauty, an album of glorious alt.country lo-fi flavours, spare and earthy. gritty, gloriously tuneful and delightfully sunny. This is her excellent cover of the country legend Bill Anderson’s song. The album, No Help Coming, is out on April 25th -

17: RUTMAN’S STEEL CELLO ENSEMBLE – Explorer (Klangbad) – Closing track tonight was something we shall return to in full in a forthcoming show. The new album from Bob Rutman. Here’s a bit of background: a native Berliner, Bob Rutman fled Nazi Germany in the 1930s, eventually emigrating to the United States, where he studied art and, in 1966, designed the prototype of his steel cello and bow chimes. He founded and toured with the Steel Cello Ensemble in the United States and Europe the 1970s. Did most of his paintings, sculptures and multimedia work in Boston and New York in the 1980s, Rutman returned to Berlin in 1990, toured with Einstuerzende Neubauten and performed at Berlin's Atonal music festival. He has performed and had exhibitions throughout Europe and the United States and has worked with Peter Sellers, Merce Cunningham, Dorothy Carter, Tanzfabrik Berlin, Wim Wenders. He's a Berlin institution. This latest album Bob Rutman´s Steel Cello Ensemble feat. Ginsberg, Hentz, Irmler.is out on May 16th – we’ll be back to explore and play it properly, rather than just feeding you a four minute slice at the end of the show, before the release date.
