This week's Other Rock Show
information
Santa Cruz band ESTRADASPHERE's
new album is out on the 19th Sept, contact www.estradasphere.com
or www.theendrecords.com....
FTSE100
demo landed last week and blew us away; they're based in Cardiff and say
they're influenced by the likes of Upsilon Acrux, Don Caballero, - www.myspace.com/ftse100...
this once incredibly unheard early CARDIACS song was performed at
the special Garage Concerts 2003 and captured on The Special Garage Concerts
Vol II, available from www.cardiacs.com...
SICBAY
are Nick Sakes, Dave Erb and Greg Schaal, this from the recent album Suspicious
Icons is on 5440orFight! records: www.fiftyfourfortyorfight.com
or www.sicbay.com ...MIASMA AND
THE CAROUSEL OF HEADLESS HORSES include members of Guapo and Alabama3;
this track was taken from the 'House Of The Rising Rat vol 1" compilation
on Bronzerat records - they're also available (in USA) on Web Of Mimicry...
The OPTIMIST CLUB are just releasing this album themselves, called
"Ripped And Psyched: How To Be A Winner" - www.myspace.com/optimistclubband.
The stunning ALEUCHATISTAS are a trio from North Carolina; this
album (every track of which deserves a ORS play) "What You Will" is just
out on Cuneiform Records - more at www.cuneiformrecords.com
What can you say about VOIVOD's "Nothingface"? One of the
most important albums of the end of the century, and it still stands up.
They never bettered it. The birth of math metal. This is the version
of "Transmission" from DEGENERATE ART ENSEMBLE's "Razor Stitch"
album... CATS AND CATS AND CATS are strange and delightful and from
Guildford - more from them soon This GRICER album is
available via www.tautrecordings.com,
perfect birthday gift for fans of Trans Am, Mogwai, Billy Mahonie etc.
Not sure what's happened to this particular DYSRHYTHMIA, info is
welcome.... ISLAND were a legendary prog band and this fine recording
dates from 1977 and the album Pictures, reissued in '96 on Laser's Edge,
USA. ARAB ON RADAR split and mutated into Made In Mexico, Chinese
Stars etc...

WHAT
IS RESONANCE FM?
Resonance104.4fm
is London's first radio art station..
Its
brief? To provide a radical alternative to the universal formulae of mainstream
broadcasting. It features programmes made by musicians, artists and critics
who represent the diversity of London's arts scene, with regular contributions
from Billy Jenkins, Savage Pencil, John Bisset, Mike Barnes, Matthew
Glammore, Peter Cusack, Caroline Kraabel, Clive Graham, Viv Corringham,
Chris Cutler, Charlie Dark, Magz Hall, Harmon E. Phraiser, Paul Hood, These
Records, Dave Draper, the Kosmische Club; guests like Faust, Gavin Turk,
Shirley Collins and The Magic Band; and numerous one-off special broadcasts
by artists on the weekday "Clear Spot".
Resonance104.4fm
is bringing a multitude of experimental sound, new music, radio art and
interaction to the capital's airwaves. Resonance104.4fm broadcasts from
the heart of London and is simultaneously streamed on the web at www.resonancefm.com
where you can also check out our full programme listings. Resonance104.4fm
is the only station of its kind in the UK, providing access radio for London's
arts community.
Imagine
a radio station like no other. A radio station that makes public those
artworks that have no place in traditional broadcasting. A radio station
that is an archive of the new, the undiscovered, the forgotten, the impossible.
That is an invisible gallery, a virtual arts centre whose location is at
once local, global and timeless. And that is itself a work of art. Imagine
a radio station that responds rapidly to new initiatives, has time to draw
breath and reflect. A laboratory for experimentation, that by virtue of
its uniqueness brings into being a new audience of listeners and creators.
All this and more, Resonance104.4fm aims to make London's airwaves
available to the widest possible range of practitioners of contemporary
art. |
