Avant standard-bearers UPSILON
ACRUX have a new album out now! Called 'Radian Futura' its on Cuneiform;
Upsilon are on top form, particularly with this outrageous 28 minute track
that they claim is a radio edit! (we played just over 12 minutes of it).
Upsilon Acrux come to the UK for the first time next month. Touring across
the country but they play London THE SAME NIGHT as Magma fgoodnessake!!!
London show on 6th October at Barden's Boudoir. Support at that and
some of the other gigs comes from both THE LAZE and HONEY RIDE
ME A GOAT, in an attempt to make people’s brains explode. The Laze:

Also over here and touring
Europe are the magnificent KAYO DOT, who at time of writing have
unfortunately had two members of their line-up stopped from entering the
UK, but rather than disappoint by cancelling the tour the three remaining
Kayo Dots are performing compositions from main man Toby Driver's Tartar
Lamb project. – www.myspace.com/kayodot
Talking of gigs, GENTLE
GIANT are pretty much reborn, even though they're too modest to say
so, in the guise of THREE FRIENDS, a band with three original members
of the 70s progressive legends; their gig last week was astonishingly good;
they're in Canada at the moment, do not miss future gigs! And talking of
Canada and Gentle Giant... Montreal based avant-proggers MIRIODOR
just released their seventh album – titled 'Avanti' – it, like so many
good things, is on Cuneiform. Three Friends – www.threefriends.info
- Miriodor – www.myspace.com/miriospace
Once upon a time there was
a fine London band called Cartridge; they're now called FRENCH FOR CARTRIDGE
and they have a new single out - www.frenchforcartridge.com
or www.myspace.com/frenchforcartridge
- also popping up after an short absence is UK band DR SLAGGLEBERRY
with a mini-album titled 'The Slagg Factory' - they're a stripped-down
three piece these days, still proper math/avant metal - www.crashrecords.co.uk
Finally, one more goodie
from the UK - DEAD DAYS BEYOND HELP is the new band of Alex Ward,
London-based multi-instrumentalist and key member of the late Camp Blackfoot
- this is from their new album 'Access Denied' - www.myspace.com/deaddaysbeyondhelp
– catch them at Ryan’s Bar here in London on Thursday 17th Sept.
Excitement!
